Determinination the expectations of the parties towards university-industry cooperation: An evaluation of the Western Black Sea Universities Cooperation

The main aim of this study is to reveal the expectations of university-industry collaboration by examining the participation of academicians and Firms' in technology development regions in cooperation studies. Expectations for collaboration; It has been presented from the perspective of Firms' and academicians operating in technology development zones, thus aiming to look at the subject from a different perspective. Additionally, the study aims to identify the characteristics of companies operating in technology development zones. In determining academics' expectations for collaboration, the study has been conducted based on four fundamental expectations: Academic Expectations, Financial Expectations, Managerial Expectations, and Process-Related Expectations. Similarly, there are four key expectations in determining companies' expectations for university-industry collaboration: Production-Related Expectations, Financial Expectations, Managerial Expectations, and Process-Related Expectations. The study was conducted within the scope of the "Western Black Sea Universities Union." Expectations for university-industry collaboration were identified through the University Scale and Company Scale. The University Scale was conducted on a total of 497 academics working in the designated departments of relevant universities. The Company Scale was conducted with 153 participants from companies operating in technology development zones. As a result of the statistical analysis, Statistically significant positive and linear relationships were determined between expectations for cooperation. The expectations of companies and academics regarding the process affect the outcome of cooperation development efforts. Firms' production-related expectations predict their management expectations at a statistically significant level. Their expectations about the process predict their expectations about the management at a statistically significant level. However, it has been observed that the interaction between production-related expectations and process-related expectations has no effect on management-related expectations.
