Willingness level of psychological help seeking of adolescents who are studying for university entrance exam

In this study, it is aimed to analyse the explicability of the willingness level of help seeking of adolescences who are studying for the university entrance exam in terms of attachment style, self concealment, and self esteem. Sample of the study consists of randomly chosen 400 (277 female and 123 male students.), who are studying for the university entrance exam in Ankara. In the study, `Willingness To Seek Help Scale? that was developed by Çankaya, Sürücü, and Altun (2007), is used by converting the items of problem scopes scale of related instrument into the willingness to help seeking form for measuring the students? willingness levels to help seeking , `Relation Scale Questionairre? that was developed by Griffin and Bartholomew (1994) is used for measuring students? attachment styles, ` Self Concealment Scale? that was developed by Larson (1990) and adapted to Turkish by Güngör, Terzi and Erdayı is used for measuring self concealment behaviour and `Coppersmith Self Esteem Inventory? that was developed by Coopersmith (1959) is used for measuring self esteem. In the analysis of data, Pearson Moments Cross Correlation, Multiple Regression was used. All data was tested on 0.01 and 0.05 signifance level.In the study, it has been confirmed that there is a significant relation between willingness of psychological help seeking and confident attachment, alarming attachment, and apathetic attachment which are sub-dimensions of attachment styles, there is also a relation between willingness of psychological help seeking and self concealment, and self esteem. In company of these consequences, confident and alarming attachment styles, self concealment behaviours, and self esteem levels of adolescents who are studying for university entrance exam explain the willingness to help seeking.
