Design and implementation systems for improving the effectiveness of university administration

ABSTRACT No one can deny the importance of universities in the development of regions and countries. In order for universities to fulfill what is expected of them, they must check their existing positions and adjust their policies and strategies according to these results. That is why it is very important that universities develop their information systems according to their missions and strategies. The information regarding the control of their missions and strategies is acquired through the performance indicators and performance evaluations showing the details of stakeholders related to the universities process. The information related to mission and strategies obtained from the performance indicators and performance evaluations that is in the information system forwarded to the university's board will improve the efficieny of the administrators. In this research, a strategic information system to imrove the efficiency of the university's administration was carried out at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Business Administration. For the development of the strategic information system, the faculty's mission and SWOT analysis were determined. Performance indicators and performance evaluations to provide information related to the mission's given process and the control of critical success factors were formed. Strategy and information strategy which were obtained from mission, process, performance indicators and performance evaluation were used to determine the needs for strategic information systems. VU
