A situation analysis on design labs as interdisciplinary constitiution at universities

Interdiscipliner studies that depart from a Project or a problem that contain creating bounds between presents, mutual researchs between related disciplines, and finding solutions by looking from different angles on common problems from different disciplines within this study, a working system that prioritizes getting benefits from experiences of different research fields like social sciences and natural sciences is planned to be structured while developing creative problem solving techniques. Within this context design problems are included in multiple solution systems. "Design" as a concept, covers an upper identity in itself. Industrial design is a field under this main title and is an interdisciplinary field that contains social and natural sciences among itself. For this reason, depending of the problems, industrial design collaborates with disciplines like natural sciences engineering (e.g. mechanical, electronics) and medicine, social sciences like philosophy, sociology, antrophometry and ergonomics. During recent years, design researching in getting more important and applied by many universities to develop interdisciplinary work laboratories. As a consequence of a look up in both national and foreign universities' design labs, important outcomes are found as universities are getting experienced on the Professional field and having benefits while turning theory into practice. Design labs differentiates from each other depending on their autonomous structures connected to universities. In this research project, current state analysis on design labs as an application within international academic environments, and as édesign laboratories" considered as a new field in research institutes and universites in Turkey will be made and their effects on design education will be investigated. Main goal of this project is searching for the importance and priorities of interdiscipliner studies through design discipline and finding their effects on innovative and futurist design education.
