Mobbing against disabled employees in universities and its results: A qualitative research in Eskisehir province

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to deeply examine the mobbing behaviors experienced by disabled university employees. The research aims to reveal whether disabled employees working at three universities in Eskişehir are exposed to mobbing at their workplaces, what type of mobbing is applied in cases where they are exposed, and who applies it. At the same time, it evaluates the physical, psychological and social consequences of mobbing on disabled individuals, which individual methods of struggle these individuals prefer against mobbing, what measures are taken by institutions against mobbing and how effective they are. The research was conducted using qualitative methods and a case study design. In collecting data, the researcher used a "Semi-Structured Interview Form" prepared based on a literature review. 18 disabled individuals employed at three universities in Eskişehir were included in the study. Five basic categories and their subcategories were determined regarding the mobbing behaviors encountered by the disabled individuals participating in the study at their workplaces. The research findings revealed that disabled individuals working at all three participating universities were exposed to mobbing behaviors at different levels. In this context, it was aimed to contribute to the development of a more effective and inclusive approach to combating mobbing, to offer suggestions for the equal and fair participation of disabled employees in working life together with other employees by protecting their rights.
