Abstract (EN)
Mankind, throughout the ages, has been involved in an attempt to immortalize people by some architectural constructions and objects as a result of religious rituals. The eternal resting places they have established have been shaped and used according to the status of the deceased in society. Religious rituals and respect for the dead, which began in the Shanidar Cave of mankind, reached the highest level in the Roman period. As a result of both scientific excavations and surface surveys on Anatolian soil, many types of graves belonging to different periods have been identified. The rock tombs of this period are also frequently encountered in the Urfa region where traces of the Roman period are seen intensely. As a result of the preliminary research that we have conducted, the necropolis and tombs we have identified as the thesis study were examined within the means and tried to be explained in a certain typological order.
