Abstract (EN)

In this study, 23 ceramic pieces dated back to Iron and Neolithic ages and 25 ceramic pieces dated back to Chalcolitic and Bronze ages were analysed using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy together with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. Iron and Neolithic age ceramic samples were obtained from Teleilat excavation which is included within the borders of Kargamıs Dam and southern Birecik, town of Sanlıurfa. Other samples were excavated from the same area but from Mezra Höyük excavation. These ceramic samples were provided by the Gazi University Archaeological and Environmental Values Research Centre. Quantitative data was grouped and analysed using SPSS statistical programme and special statistical analytical techniques including factor and hierarchical grouping analysis to analyse both individual and group data obtained from ceramic samples excavated from different sites. Samples from Mezra Höyük excavation were used as control samples in this study. Results showed that, samples coded T-2.11, T.1.19, T-1.23 and T-2B2 were separated from the group. Furthermore, using XRD technique, 9 ceramic samples compositional analysis was performed and found to contain amorphous structures of quartz and allophone. The results of clay analysis confirmed presence of illite and kaolinite structures within our samples. The results found to match the archaeological findings.
