Abstract (EN)
In this study, raphignatoid mites species and their seasonal distribution in Urla county of Izmir province were investigated. During the period of May 2007-April 2008, soil and litter samples were taken once a month from various habitats. Samples were brought to the laboratory in nylon bags and the rafignatoid mites were extracted in Berlese funnels. Finally, species identification were conducted for the rafignatoid families determined in the soil samples. The drawings and the measurements of various organs of identified species and their distributions in the world were given. In addition, the diagnostic keys for the genera and species were arranged. In the sampling area were obtained 5 families, 9 genera and 18 species belong to the superfamily of Raphignathoidea. Of these, 5 species were belonging to Stigmaeidae family (Storchia robustus, Eustigmaeus anauniensis, Eustigmaeus segnis, Eustigmaeus sculptus, Ledermuelleriopsis plumosa), 6 species to Raphignathidae family (Raphignathus ueckermanni, Raphignathus hecmatanaensis, Raphignathus kuznetzovi, Raphignathus collegiatus, Raphignathus gracilis, Raphignathus vahiti), 3 species to Caligonellidae family (Neognathus terrestris, Caligonella humilis, Molothrognathus crucis), 2 species to Cryptognathidae family (Favognathus amygdalus, Favognathus orbiculatus) and 2 species to Camerobiidae family (Neophyllobius lachishensis, Neophyllobius communis). The population density of Stigmaeidae, one of the families found in the sampling area, was observed in spring, while the population density of Raphignathidae, Caligonellidae and Cryptognathidae were observed in autumn. The physicochemical characteristics of the soil of the study area, as well as the temperature of the weather, rainfall, humidity diagrams were presented. In addition, monthly and seasonal distributions of the discovered genera were given both in genus and family levels. The frequency and dominance values were calculated for each species, as well. Finally, It was found that not only abiotic but also biotic factors played a role in the higher density of the population of raphignatoid mites during autumn, spring and winter.
