Abstract (EN)

This study titled 'Paleogeography of Urla Coastal Plain and Sedimantological and Palaeontological Contributions to the Research on Limantepe-Klazomenai Archeology' consists of two main parts. In the first chapter, the physical geographical features of the coastal plain of Urla and its immediate surroundings have been examined. In the second part, paleontological evaluations were carried out on the sedimentary, stratigraphic and paleontological data obtained from drilling drilling studies on the Urla coastal plain, on the paleogeography of Urla coastal plain and on Limantepe-Klazomenai archaeolgy. The Urla coastal plain is located on the Urla Peninsula. It is bordered by the Gulf of Gülbahçe, the Gulf of Izmir to the north and the Sığacık Gulf to the south, the Karaburun Peninsula to the west. The Urla coastal plain is a depression in the alluvial-colluvial feature between the mountainous masses in the western and eastern parts. Depression is mainly caused by floods on the Miocene limestone, which are collected from the surrounding high fields. Another factor that is influential in the formation is the sea level changes occurring in the Holocene. The basement is formed by the Miocene limestone and is located in volcanic rocks connected to volcanic activity. The grain size of 358 samples taken from drilling; were determined by hydrometer and sieve analysis. The grain size characteristics of sediments and the changing hydrodynamic conditions have been determined. For paleontological analysis, 154 samples were taken from macro and micro fossil analyzes. The marine environment, lagoon and swamp environments and fossils representing the terrestrial environment were found. Ostracods, Foraminifera and Molluks (Gastropod and Bivalvia) have been found in different environments. The numerical presence of these species was used to determine the environment by evaluating the species in which they were found.
