Examining the ballads of Uşak region in terms of particular features

Turkish folk music, as a cultural items whose depth dates back centuries, although it contains dialect differences according to the regions due to its traditionality, its language is understandable and plain because it has been given a certain shape by the people. Accordingly, people who listen to Turkish folk music enrich their vocabulary and carry the essence of the Turkish language to the future. Turkish folk music, which is a part of the culture itself, has been seen as a means of reproduction, as well as helping to transfer the feeling of the nation along with various aspects of Turkish social life, as well as many cultural elements at the same time. In this study, in which the characteristics of instrument, manner, performance, rhythm (usul), melody, maqam scale, and poetry of Turkish folk music in the Uşak region are examined, it is aimed to reach the knowledgeable people in the Uşak region by using the snowball sampling method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, in the form of descriptive research and source scanning. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. 24 folk songs compiled within the scope of the study were brought to the musical memory of the region. In addition, in this study, the historical, geographical features, musical history, music culture and THM characteristics of Uşak province are also included. In this study, Uşak is a zeybek region in terms of musical genre and it is at a crossing point with the teke region in the context of its long tunes, the tunes show 13 different modal scale characteristics, it has rhythmic elements specific to the zeybek region and determining the genre in the rhythmic analysis, love, love in folk songs, in general. It has been concluded that there are 24 folk songs that are not in the TRT repertoire in the field researches in the region, in which the topics of separation and longing are handled, that there are 5 different music practices in the region, that the folk songs with plays have the characteristics of the game specific to the region.
