Using seeker optimization to enhance the broadband performance of electromagnetic absorbers and matching circuits

Abstract (EN)

In this work Seeker Optimization Algorithm (SOA) as a relatively new promising bio-inspired optimization technique has been considered to solve four pivotal electromagnetic problems. According to the problem in hand, we applied modified versions of the SOA to get the most benefits of the used technique. In the first two problems, two different types of wideband absorbers have been considered. In the first problem design double stage seeker optimization algorithm has been applied to the multilayer absorbers design where continuous and discrete variables over wide-range of frequencies and incident angles are considered. The second problem is the enhancement of the performance of metamaterial absorbers over a selected frequency band using an Application Program Interface (API) between the CST and the MATLAB programs rather than using the mathematical models, where MATLAB is the coding environment and the CST is the powerful simulation environment. In the third and fourth designs, SOA have been used to design multi-stub as well tapered quarter wave matching circuits. where the real dimensions also the microstrip lines have been obtained using PUFF simulator. For each problem, many numerical examples have been considered, the results showed that, the designs obtained using SOA is superior and simpler in most cases than the ones in the literature.
