Determining the gifted students? points of view about scientist and the factors effecting them

In science teaching, it is important for the the students to know the structure of scientific data and how to possess the scientific thinking skills and to implement them.When the students learn the structure of scientific data and how to use them,they can handle problems they encounter via a distinct approach and they can find solutions.The gifted students? viewpoints about science and the structure of science and their opinions about scientists will effect their career expectation and their success posit4ely or negat4ely.For this purpose the students? scientific attitudes, their thoughts about the structure of science and their point of view about scientists should be defined. Therefore in this research it is aimed to define the opinions of the gifted students who attend seven different Science and Art centers about science and scientists.The scale used in research consists of three sub.d4isions. The first d4ision of the scale includes the questions aimed to define the demographic characters of students.The second d4ision consists of the scientist models to define the students? opinions about scientist and semi.structured questions to describe these models and likert type questionnaire designed for scientist.The third and the last d4ision consists of science attitude scale produced by examining the related literature in order to determine the students attitudes about science and technology.This scale was applied to 217 gifted students between 11-15 ages, attending seven different science and art centers in 2010-2011 academic year.As a result of statistical analysis, similarities and differences were observed between the gifted students` opinions about scientists and their attitudes about science in terms of some factors.
