The conception of religion and God in utopia and dystopia

Utopias and dystopias still have an important place in the history of thought. A more ideal state is being fictionalized in the hope of getting rid of the social, political and cultural problems of the society lived in utopias. This ideal state fiction is like a description of heaven on earth. Because the characters fictionalized in the works lead a happy and contented life. On the other hand, in dystopias, there is an understanding of the state with a bad administration. In such books, the government wants to control the people and their life by all means. The story in dystopias is fictionalized by the perceptual experiences of the main characters. In this study, the conception of religion and God in utopias where an ideal state is basically an ideal life, and in dystopias where everything is constructed in a controlled way are examined. Since conception is directly related to perception, it was deemed necessary to include the perceptual relationship of subject-object distinction in the field of philosophy. The subject has been studied not in the context of all utopias and dystopias in the history of thought, but on the basis of books that have an important place in history with their fiction and conception. First of all, the perceptual states of the characters in these books are discussed. Then, the experiences of these characters about religion and God conception were evaluated in detail.
