Özet (EN)

Objective: The type and severity of negative and positive psychotic symptom dimensions and recovery times in Substance-Induced Psychosis (SIP) vary depending on the type of substance used. This study aims to investigate the differences in remission rates and durations according to the substances associated with SIP. Materials and Methods: The study included a total of 79 patients who were hospitalized for Substance-Induced Psychosis (SIP) at Manisa Psychiatry and Neurology Hospital. Urine analyses were conducted to identify the substances used by the patients, and both patient and family reports were taken into consideration. Among the patients examined, 32 (40.5%) had psychosis related to "stimulant only," 22 (27.8%) had psychosis related to "stimulant + other substance," and 25 (31.6%) had psychosis related to "non-stimulant substance." Throughout the process from the first day of hospitalization to discharge, the patients were interviewed every three days, and the PANSS scale was used for scoring. The remission criteria were based on whether the criteria (scores) evaluated with the PANSS scale were met throughout the hospital stay or during the days leading up to the patient's discharge. Results: No significant relationship was found between the type of substance used and the remission rate across the three groups (stimulants, stimulants + other, and other substances) (p = .506). Furthermore, no significant difference was found between the type of substance used and the remission duration across the three groups (p = .94). As the level of education increased, remission rates increased. A significant difference was observed between the groups (p=.012). Conclusion: No significant difference was found in the remission rates and durations between patients with psychosis related to stimulant substances and those with psychosis related to other substances during the acute phase.
