Abstract (EN)
It is widely known that except the geographical area of East Turkestan - the Republic of Kazakhstan - one of the key regions of Central Asia, is a one of the most settled areas of Uyghur Turks. In this study, following issues will be evaluated from a historical perspective: The settling of a certain number of the Uyghurs from the territory of East Turkestan (known as the motherland) to the USSR; Historical events that have taken place during many years of repeated population movements; Famous people and well-known intellectuals; Problems and consequences of Soviet and Chinese repression, the main reasons that lead people to migrate; The settlement of Uyghurs in the southeastern regions of Kazakhstan, near the border, ways to save their national culture in the settled areas and protect the mother language and national identification. Briefly, the study will show a specific place of Uyghur Turks between two communist giants in the history, general history and socio-cultural life of the Uyghurs who have been living in these lands since Tsarist to Soviet periods and since the proclamation of the independent Republic of Kazakhstan to the present time, and their current conditions. In particular, migration processes, settlements and socio-cultural conditions of East Turkestan Uyghur Turks who settled in Kazakhstan before 1991 will be discussed and evaluated in this study. The goal of this study is objectively reveal the situation of Uyghur Turks in Kazakhstan in the context of improving relations between Turkey and Kazakhstan. The limited historical research on this subject in Turkey is probably due to lack of material or difficult access to them. Therefore, these circumstances make significant reasons for our investigation.
