Abstract (EN)
The level of material and spiritual development of a society is directly proportional to the quality of education received by the individuals in that society. Well-trained, well-equipped and qualified individuals in terms of knowledge and skills can only be brought into society with a quality and efficient education system. It is indisputable that science education has an important place and is necessary in raising individuals who will contribute to the development level of the society and strive to solve the problems that occur in daily life. They will be to benefit from science education and go the treatment process. Along with science, they will be able to learn to solve promlems by observing and to solve by hypothesizing. In this way, their learning becomes easier and permanence is ensured in their leraning. The aim of this study is to examine the achievements and activities related to Scientific Process Skills in the "Systems in Our Body" unit in the 6th Grade Science Textbook in the 2018 Science Curriculum and the application of the activities in the distance education process, together with the opinions of the teachers and students on the subject. The aim of the study is to examine and, based on these views, to make some evaluations and offer some suggestions about distance education applications for science course. In this research, basic scientific process skills and experimental processes were examined as a whole. While basic process skills include observing, classifying, measuring, estimating, deducing, (communicating) expressing, experimental process skills are forming hypotheses and probing hypotheses, defining and controlling variables, interpreting data, defining by doing, designing and performing experiments, and model building skills. The research was designed as a case study, one of the qualitative research patterns. The course book and curriculum were analyzed by content analysis, and then semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers and students. The study group was formed with 10 Science teachers teaching in Kastamonu city center and 10 students studying in Kastamonu city center. A semi-structured interview form was applied to teachers and students, The data were obtained by content analysis. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that there was no significant relationship between the scientific process skills that the activities in the "Systems in Our Body" unit in the 6th grade Science Textbook aimed to measure and the scientific process skill acquisitions in the 2018 Science Curriculum. At the same time, it was concluded that it is difficult to implement the activities in the unit and gain scientific process skills due to distance education. In this context, it can be suggested that the science process skill activities in the Science Curriculum and Science Textbooks should be made applicable in conditions such as distance education. In this context, it is of great importance to design a teaching program for the distance education process that will enable teachers to make effective practices, make students active, enrich the lessons in terms of activities, and provide practical acquisition of scientific process skills.
