Opinions of social studies teachers on EBA live course application in the process of distance education

The Corona Vırus epidemic, which emerged at the end of 2019 and affected the whole world, caused changes in the field of education as well as in all areas of society. With the effect of the epidemic, all educational institutions in the world switched to the distance education system and took a break from formal education. The aim of this study is to evaluate the EBA live lesson application, which is used in the distance education process, through the views of Social Studies teachers. Since an approach in which the teacher is in the center is followed in the distance education process; Teachers' opinions are important in evaluating the effect of distance education activities on the social studies course in the adaptation and recovery process, and in planning the learning-teaching process in accordance with the needs of the student. The basic interpretive qualitative research design was used in the study. The study group consists of 17 social studies teachers working in Nevşehir. Semi-structured interview form were used to collect data. The data were analyzed with the content analysis method, and as a result of the analysis, the use of the EBA live lesson in the learning-teaching process; It has been concluded that the social studies course is insufficient due to reasons such as not being able to reach its goals, repetition in teaching subjects and concepts, difficulty in teaching abstract concepts, low motivation in students and teachers, and unconsciousness of family and students about distance education. In addition, the negative impact of the distance education process on the socialization of students and teachers contradicts the purpose of designing social studies. The fact that educational activities are not interrupted during the epidemic, saving time and space, the lesson is taught faster than the normal program, and the active participation of the family are the positive results of distance education.
