Abstract (EN)

In this study, the quality assurance approach applied in space projects is explained, with reference to the standards published by the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS). The principles and requirements specified in the ECSS-Q-ST-20C Quality Assurance standard are described, and the purpose and methods of quality activities carried out in different project phases are outlined, emphasizing the importance of these activities. The study provides information about quality standards belonging to organizations such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), which are referenced in the space sector. It also supports the research topic by reviewing international efforts related to space industry product and quality assurance. Quality activities carried out in a earth observation satellite project are presented through control/inspection checklist, aiming to demonstrate in detail how the theoretically defined quality requirements and principles are applied in practice. The study addresses the ultimate goals, which are to raise awareness about quality assurance in the emerging space sector in our country and to support the creation of a guide on space quality standards. It explains the challenging effects that a spacecraft will encounter during launch and in space conditions and highlights the importance of having a quality assurance approach for all processes in the face of these effects and technical difficulties in projects. As a result of the study, it is emphasized that the quality assurance approach should be collectively embraced by project teams, and the requirements specified in reference quality standards should be prioritized in all project processes.
