GREENHOUSE CONTROLED WITH EXPERT SYSTEMS (M. Sc. Thesis) Tuncay AYDO?AN GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 1997 ABSTRACT v In this study, a rule based expert system has been developed to control the climate of the greenhouses. To achieve this, a knowledge base containing the requirements of the plants has been formed. The cross relationship between these requirements has been used to form a rule base. The reference values corresponding to the internal factors (i.e. the humidity, temperature, lighting etc.) effecting the climate of the greenhouse have been used to produce outputs against the input values taken from inside. As a result of questioning the system the answers taken from the system are used in two different forms: Firstly, the climate controlling equipment such as a heater is either switched on or off via the circuits connected to the computer's output port. Secondly, the user is allowed to see the situation of these units on the computer screen.
