Abstract (EN)
The term long term youth unemployment includes young people who have been unemployed for more than a year. The main objective of this study is to determine the predictors of long-term youth unemployment in Turkey and long-term unemployed young people who are the demographic characteristics reveal whether the effect on these markers. For this purpose, the determinants of long-term youth unemployment have been dealt with in the dimensions of education system and employment, employment preferences and trends of employers, demographic trends and urbanization, economic structure and entrepreneurship ecosystem and the preferences and tendencies of youth employment. Scale developed by the researcher. The questionnaire was used to measure the current perceptions of young people who have been living in İstanbul for 18-29 years and have been unemployed for more than a year. According to the results of the survey, it was observed that long term unemployment among women, low wages, unregistered workers and 25-29 age group was determined as employment preferences and tendencies of employers. It was concluded previous work experience that informal employment increased the risk of long-term youth unemployment, and who were married, who received vocational training and those who did not have sufficient experience had long been unemployed due to problems arising from the economic structure and entrepreneurial ecosystem. It was found that those who had pre-graduate and under education, unregistered employees, aged 25-29 and who did not have enough experience were the determinants of long-term unemployment and also demographic trends and problems caused by urbanization increased the duration of unemployment.
