The existence of hereafter in Wahiduddin Khan

One of the three historical periods of the science of kalam is the period of the new science of kalam. Scientific developments in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries paved the way for the outbreak of some conflicts between religion and science and the need to reinterpret religious sciences. In this process, the issue of the existence of the hereafter was dealt with either from a perspective in accordance with revelation or by including scientific expressions under the influence of positivism. In this study, Wahīd al-Dīn Khan's (d. 2021) views on the existence of the hereafter are analyzed in various aspects as a projection of his conception of kalam. Whether Khan dealt with the issue of the hereafter with revelation or empirical knowledge, what his method of proof was, and whether his proposals for the establishment of a new science of kalam were in accordance with the general structure of this science were also presented in the context of the issue of the hereafter. Khan's approach to this science is clarified in the light of various scientific developments in the modern and postmodern world, taking into account the change of time while dealing with the idea of renewal of the science of kalam. Questioning the functionality of the logic of syllogism with scientific data, this study also examines how Khan conveys the new method of kalam on the basis of empirical knowledge. As a result of these examinations, it was revealed that Khan was against the old theological tradition and that his new method he wanted to apply was not very popular. As a result of Han's comparison of the possibility and necessity of the existence of the afterlife with scientific knowledge and findings, believing in the existence of the afterlife has turned into an existential necessity.
