Abstract (EN)
The Effect of Breast Crawl on Infant Feeding Attitude and Breastfeeding Success of After Vaginal Delivery INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Breast crawl is an instinctive behavior sequence that involves the newborns who are born on time and in good health, when placed on their mother's abdomen, reaching the breast with crawling movements and performing the sucking. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of crawling on the breast after vaginal delivery on the feeding attitude of mothers and breastfeeding success. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 68 mothers and their babies (34 experiments, 34 controls) were included in the randomized controlled experimental study. The babies in the experimental group were breastfed into the breast, and the babies in the control group were allowed to perform the first breastfeeding in accordance with the hospital routines. The data were collected by using "Descriptive Demographic Information Form", "LATCH Breastfeeding Assessment Tool" and "(IOWA) Infant Feeding Attitude Scale ". The obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 program. For statistical significance, p<0.05 was accepted. RESULTS: The mean scores of the mothers in the experimental and control groups on the LATCH Breastfeeding Assessment Tool were 8.85±1.81 and 8.76±1.82, respectively; the mean score of the mothers in the experimental and control groups on the "(IOWA) Infant Feeding Attitude Scale was 68.14±6.04 and 68.38±5.92, respectively. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between LATCH and Infant Nutrition Attitude Scale scores according to the groups of mothers (p>0.05). The first breastfeeding period of the mothers in the experimental group was 37.62±12.10 min. the control group was 21.79±8.90 min. and it was determined that the first breastfeeding time of the mothers in the experimental group was statistically significantly longer (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: It was determined that performing the first breastfeeding with the breastfeeding method had no effect on the success of breastfeeding and the attitude of mothers to feed their babies, and that it significantly extended the first breastfeeding period.
