Literary and cultural briskness in Vakit the newspaper (23 April 1920?29 October 1923)

It is seen that there are some newspapers having a variety of purposes in İstanbul during the years of treaty. Some of these papers supported the national struggle but some didn?t. Vakit newspaper as a supporter of the national struggle met its readers in 22 October 1917 about a year ago of the Armistice of Mondros and continued to be pressed until 1967. The newspaper was established by Ahmed Emin Yalman and Mehmed Asım. Firstly, Ali Naci Karacan and then Enis Tahsin Til worked as the editorial directors of the newspaper. During the fifty years puplication life, the newspaper was puplicated daily with some exceptions. The subject of this thesis is the years of Vakit having a long puplication life, between 23 April 1920 and 29 October 1923.Before the main sections, in the introduction part the Turkish people, the enemy occupation and resistance of independence are mentioned vividly. In the first section under the title of ?Recognizing the Newspaper? the newspaper?s puplication adventure, shape features, puplication principles, editorial policy, literary, cultural activities and the period from national struggle to the are mentioned. In the second section under the title of ?Vakit?s Fihriste? a list is given the casting. In the list, the leading articles, signed articles and the other articles with or without the names of the outhors are given alphabetically.The third and the last section is named as the ?The Reflections from Vakit?s Mirror.? In this part, the acticles which reflects social, political and literary life of the period are mentioned, classified under the ten titles and written with Latin alphabet.
