Abstract (EN)

The artists known as 1968 Generation artists returned to figurative painting and brought a new sense of reality to figuration after 1960. The figures were not drawn according to the traditional methods or academic rules, just the opposite of these techniques, the artists recreated figures in a new distinctive style with political messages, irony and criticism. Artists in this generation such as Komet covered existential concepts like anxiety, alienation, absurd in addition to themes variety in their works. These ideas continued to be important to Komet in his career. The concern with boredom, isolation, alienation as the condition of human being in society were the themes both in literature and paint art, after 1960. Leylâ Erbil who is 1950 Generation writer used unconventional storytelling techniques such as poetic techniques, stream of consciousness, disfiguration, employed fantasy together with reality. Existential concept of anxiety, absurdity, nothingness, inner life, sexuality, suicide, crisis were themes that she worked about. A comparison between the work and ideas of Komet and Leylâ Erbil points out their shared artistic concerns. In this thesis Komet's paintings and chosen Leylâ Erbil's novels namely "Tuhaf Bir Kadın", "Karanlığın Günü", "Kalan" and "Tuhaf Bir Erkek" will be analyzed taking into consideration philosophy of the existentialism and psychoanalysis concepts.
