Comparative folk cultural research between Varsak Turkmen and Sunni Arabs in central Mardin

This study intends to explore and contrast the folk cultures of the Varsak Turkmen and the central Sunni Arabs of Mardin. The goal is to document the unique local traits in a world where cultural elements are becoming more homogenized. To date, no research has been conducted on the customs of Sunni Arabs in Mardin. This study aims to highlight both similarities and differences by comparing cultural characteristics. It can also serve as a guide for future studies on this subject. Similarities between cultures are rooted in shared cultural elements, while differences arise from the solutions communities find to adapt to their living conditions. In the study, the records of birth, marriage, death-related living customs, folk beliefs, clothing, food, drinks, and literary products of the communities were obtained by observation, interview, questionnaire, and interview with the source person, and written sources related to the subject were also used, reached by making comparisons between folk cultures.
