The knowledge of families about their children, school and their methods of getting knowledge (the example of Sakarya's primary schools)

Key Words: Primary School, Family, Environment It is a fact that family and environment have a serious role as important as school in the education of children. Especially nowadays, within the scientifif and tecnologic developments and schools must share their functions with family and its environment. However when we examine school, its environment and family, some serious problems appear. Most important of these problems are complexcity of environment, insufficiency of family in the education and supervision of children. Families must cooperate with school in the education and supervision of the children. In this study ; a) Informations, which should be known by family about their children and school b) Family's information level about school and children c) How can family take these information? From which sources do they take these informations? d) The opinions of the families about informations that are known and must be known, are searched for if these opinions are different from eachother according to family's age, sexuality, education level and income. The aim of this study is to ascertain that how can family, whose children are student in the center of Sakarya, take information about school which sources do they use and what do they know about their children in the school. Guestionaire is applied for the 28 central school of Sakarya and 1 100 families that has children in these schools. The collected data were analized by the method of freguency distributions, percentages, t-test, one-way analysis of variance through the SPSS for MS Windovs package programme. This research is divided into four stage as it was stated aboue m conclusion, if an active and effective contact is provided between school and family, the guality of education will increase. With in this contact, families can come school for not only while their children have problem but also while they want to take information about their children. They can also come school for taking information about school administration and for making interview with teachers.Become conscious by educational programs for them. IV
