11 DESIGN AND APPILACATION OF A VENTURI TUBE M.Sc Thesis Recai KUŞ GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY September 1997 ABSTRACT It is fact that experiments for teaching and understandingof fluid mechanics are very important issue, real fluid flows is difficult to explain in theory in many cases because of its complex behavior, hence the experimental study on a theoretical investigation and the comparision between the theory and the experimental data is an effective way to solve engineering problems. In this experimental study a venturi tube has been designed and manufactured for using fluid mechanics laboratories. The experiments have been conducted to verify Bernoulli equation by using the venturi tube designed and the discharge coefficient (Cd) has been determined for different flow rates.
