Abstract (EN)

Cars have become an important part of our lives in a century-old process that started with the Ford T- Model, the world's first mass production car. In addition to the value that automobiles add to our lives, transportation related problems that they cause are another important issue to be considered. These problems ranks first among the existing problems of urban life. The infrastructure and management of the transportation systems, which are insufficient in the complex and dynamic structure of the increasing and varying transportation demand with socio-economic developments, force local and even central administrations to produce effective solutions. Hence, current and future transportation related plans should be made by taking into account this quantitative and varying nature of the demand. The transportation systems to be offered without considering this variable structure of the demand will be far from providing the desired benefit. The main aim of this thesis is to reveal the relationship of personal attributes obtained from household survey data with the amount of trips produced through data mining methods and WEKA software. The model to be developed will both transform the complex transportation demand into a predictable structure and will serve as a reference source for the prediction of future trips so that the strategic and political decisions may be taken based on the produced results by reducing the time related and economic costs of the survey process.
