Abstract (EN)
Vermicular graphite cast iron (VGDD), which is widely used in the automotive industry because of outstanding strenght properties. But, tere are many problem with regard to machinability of this metarial. In this study, optimum cutting parameters were studied in order to improve machinability of vermicular graphite cast iron. Experiment parameters which is appropriate for ISO 3685 was selected. Depend on the cutting parameters, cutting forces and surface roughness was measured during the machining of experimental samples. The sintered carbide cutting tools which are in ISO K10 grade and coated 9 ?m thickness with TiCN-Al2O3 - TiN by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method, used in experiments. The experiments was carried out by turning at the conditions of four different cutting speeds (150, 170, 190 and 210 m/min) and at the constant cutting depth (2,5mm) without using cutting fluids. In the experimental study, the cutting forces known as the criterian of machinability were measured with a dynamometer and analysed according to the measured surface roughness values. The effects of selected cutting parameters on the cutting forces and the surface roughness were investigated. The results showed that the best surface roughness get obtain Perlitic vermicular graphite iron with the highest cutting speed. With regard to cutting force, the highest cutting forces measured on Perlitic+Ferritic vermicular graphite iron.
