Abstract (EN)
Osteoporosis is frequently encountered in patients with advanced age, disease today and one of the most serious consequences of osteoporosis is vertebral compression fractures. Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical technique used for these fractures. Goal of treatment is to prevent spinal deformity, reduce pain, restore vertebral height and provide early mobilization of the patient to return to daily activities. In this thesis, the results of vertebral fractures treated with kyphoplasty in our clinic reported and discussed in the literature. In this study, between July 2011 and June 2013, we want to evaluate the result of our treatments with kyphoplasty for twenty five vertebral compression fracture of eighteen patients in Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center Orthopedics and Traumatology department. Nine patients (50%) were women and nine(50%) were men. The mean age was 67.5 (52-82) . Clinically evaluation was performed by using PDI, ODI and SF-36.Radiological diagnosis of vertebral column anterior-posterior and lateral plain radiographs of patients routinely taken. However, in both cases, MRI and CT filmed patients. The distribution of the twenty five vertebrae treated with kyphoplasty procedure; T3 level 1 (4%), T4 level 1 (4%), T11 level 2 (8%), the T12 level 4 (16%), L1 to the level of 7 (28%), L2 level 5 (20%), L3 level 4 (16%), L5 level 1 (4%) level, respectively. Kyphoplasty patients with PDI values decreased to 2.1 from 9.2, the ODI back pain almost all of the patients after kyphoplasty procedure has not done a major problem in the patient's life, again according to the SF-36 in patients after kyphoplasty was found to be highly significant reduction in activities of daily living. The average height of the existing vertebra corpus after kyphoplasty procedure was increased by 43%. Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures. With this process the stabilization of the fracture, pain reduction, restoration of vertebral wall, spinal deformity prevention, early return to normal life as soon as possible and the early mobilization of patient are possible. Kyphoplasty a gold standard and minimally invasive surgical technique.
