Abstract (EN)

The basic target is to reduce the pressure on the nervous and vascular structures and fix it rigidly on surgical procedures performed on the cervical spine to maintain region anatomy. During the surgical procedure performed on the spine, complications which may cause the death or deform the life quality can occur in the case of spinal cord injury. For safe surgery, it is important that the region anatomy is well known to determine how far the screw is inserted into the vertebra and into the bone of the screw. Such situations as headache, migraine, fainting attacks can occur by the size and shape of the transvers foramen affecting vertebral artery. The purpose is to make morphometric measurements for use in cervical vertebra surgery and to contribute to the basic and clinical sciences by morphologically examining the cervical vertebrae. In this study, the cervical vertebrae which were not deformed and whose measurement parameters were obvious and whose sex and age not known have been investigated. A total of 50 parameters have been evaluated in atlas, axis and III-VII cervical vertebrae. The findings have been analyzed statistically. The pedicle height has been found to be greater than the pedicle width. If the diameters of the screws used for cervical vertebra surgery are large, pedicle fracture may cause loosening of the implant or injury to neighboring visceral structures and the width, height and length of the pedicles are important in determining the diameter and length of the pedicles when placing the pedicle screw. The knowledge gained in this study is thought to contribute to the basic and clinical sciences, especially brain surgery, radiology and orthopedics.
