Abstract (EN)

Although attempts were made to transition to multi-party life following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the first two attempts failed; It was interrupted as a result of the rebellions. After Atatürk's death in 1938, İsmet İnönü was elected president and declared national chief. A new era began in Turkey when CHP received the title of "National Chief" at its 1st Extraordinary Congress on December 26, 1938. The Democrat party was established on January 7, 1946. The Second World War caused radical changes all over the world and in Turkey. Especially the rural areas were greatly affected by this situation, and dissatisfaction increased with the new taxes imposed. This situation caused CHP to lose power to a great extent and caused the opposition to increase among the public. On June 5, 1946, the Parliamentary Election Law was amended and single-stage elections were adopted for the first time in the history of the Republic. Single-stage elections were implemented for the first time in the general elections held on July 21, 1946. This election entered our democratic history with open voting, secret counting and, for the first time, a single-stage general election. In the general elections in which a single-stage election system was used, CHP largely won the elections throughout the country, including Kırşehir. Taking into account the problems in the elections held in 1946, the opposition began to put constant pressure on the amendment to the election law and the introduction of the "secret ballot, open classification" system. Democratic Party "Enough!" It put an end to the single-party period in the elections of May 14, 1950, with the slogan "The Word Belongs to the Nation". Considering the 8th Period, which is the subject of our study, it can be seen that a general picture has emerged in the direction of the continuation of the CHP government. In the 1946 elections, İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu, Kemal Sahir Kurutoğlu, Mehmet Nihat Erdem and Şevket Turgut were entitled to join the Turkish Grand National Assembly as CHP deputies. In the study, the biographies and political activities of the 4 MPs mentioned were examined.
