Abstract (EN)
The most common reason of the total deaths on earth is cardiovascular events. Nowadays many biochemical parameters that also new explored and clinical disorders are decided to be cardiovascular risk factors. It is known that metabolic syndrome goes together with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Visceral fat rate increases in metabolic syndrome. In this study, it was investigated whether the visceral fat rate is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. The patients who applied to cardiology and internal medicine outpatient clinics and also who were volunteer, were included in the study. The visceral fat rate was measured by bioelectric impedance method. Patients? blood analyses were taken and clinical risk factors were determined. The relation between visceral fat rate and clinical risk factors were researched by `?t test?? on continuous variables and by `?Chi-square test?? on categorical variables. Visceral fat ratio was significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, family history of coronary artery disease. In conclusion, cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by strict monitoring and reduction of visceral fat accumulation.
