II THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND CALIBRATION OP A VOLUMETRIC FLOWMETER (M.Sc. Thesis) Cav i t ERGELEN GAZÎ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AMD TECHNOLOGY February 1988 ABSTRACT Through the measurement of fuel consumption, ve hicle performance can be predicted. To this aim the design and construction of a measuring instrument that converts the mechanical and hyraulic values into elec trical signals was considered. Measurement of fluids through pipes and the measurement of fuel consumption methods has been investigated, a volumetric flowmeter that can measure the fuel co sump t i on on a moving ve hicle has been designed and constructed. The fuel con sumption is graphically expressed as a function of pump speed.
