Abstract (EN)
The Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) was highlighted and got great attention by scientific and technical researchers during the last years because of the huge and different applications that depend on it especially the medical field, and due to the limited power of these sensors, the extending of the wireless network sensors life became an important target for researchers. In our research we introduced a novel design to extend the network life and to reduce the power consumption through adding a smart sleep state to SIMPLE protocol. We classified the sensors types into critical sensors (CS) that related to the patient critical life that any delay or error in information transmission may cause bad consequences on patient's life, and non critical sensors (NCS) that relates to patient normal and non-urgent information therefore they can go to sleep mode according to a specified time table. We also suggested a Scheduled Time Report (STR) that can be prepared and submitted by the patient's supervisor doctor according to the patient case in order to send the patient's information depending on the STR and then go to smart sleep mode when there is no need for data transmission. In our research we also suggested after sending the information by the NCS according to the STR, it should send a Receipt Acknowledgment Request (RAR) in order to ensure the reception of data to the sink node (SN) in the right way. This RAR is so important since any missing in information for any reason will be a real problem because the information is transmitted one time every sleep cycle and the next info will be sent after NCS waking up. Moreover, in order to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) and network lifetime, we introduced a solution to improve the cost function (CF) of SIMPLE protocol by adding a factor of performance to the CF in order to determine the best route for data transmitting. The route will be determined according to the lower CF and the data will be transmitted through that route.
