A semantic review on Turkish nouns related to body

The field of linguistics examining the meaning of words is called semantics. When a word takes on the meanings of other concepts over time due to a variety of reasons, it is called polysemy. Organ names, which are among the closest concepts to people, are among the basic words used in referring to new concepts and situations. In this regard; by choosing five organ names "mouth, nose, eyes, eyebrows, ears", it is studied to identify the semantic nets of the words through the Works belonging to historic Turkish written language, dictionaries and a variety of present sources.Besides determining the basic meaning, connotation and metaphorical meanings of the words; examples identified from the Works of historic Turkish written language (in chronological order) are also included in this study.The meanings of words identified through the Works belonging to historic Turkish written language, dictionaries and a variety of present sources are examined in context through linguistic methods, diachronically and simultaneously.
