Elements of children's literature in Vural Kaya's works for children

Abstract (EN)

This reasarch aims to examine Vural Kaya's books published for children to date in terms of the elements that constitute children's literature. Fourteen of Vural Kaya's book were examined in terms of the internal structural elements of children's literature plot, theme, character, language and narrative, and message and the external structural elements of size, paper, cover, page layout, and illustrations. The author's works were analyzed using the document review method. The research determined that Vural Kaya's works are signifıcantly consistent with the elements of children's literature in terms of both the internal and external structural elements. These qualities include: language and narrative appropriateness to children's developmental characterictics, the themes respinding to children's interests and needs, the use of curiosity in plot development, and the characters possessing age and characteristics that children can identify with. Furthermore, the messages in the books appear to foster a sensitivity to universal values in children. The author's works have been identifıed as having features that foster reading habits in children. Considering the characteristics of the examined works, it can be concluded that they are beneficial works in the fıeld of children's literature.
