Özet (EN)

Within modernist literature, Wallace Stevens' poetry stands as an example of how objects become things. Bill Brown explains this notion in his well-known Thing Theory article. Drawing upon this notion, the presence of such objects becomes a vessel for the poet's worldview. Therefore, this thesis aims to analyze objects in Stevens' poetry, employing techniques to discuss figure-ground perception by revealing the duality of their roles. While these objects stand as aesthetic elements, their hyperpresence and transformative significance also establish a connection between the mundane and the philosophical aspect of life, through which Stevens seeks divinity. In this context, the figure and ground theory application emerges as a practical tool for understanding the significance of objects and their juxtaposition within the context of poems. Consequently, figüre-ground perception helps unearth Stevens' philosophy, intertwining his worldview with exploring the utilization of objects.
