Wave propagation in composite materials

The system of anisotropic elasticity with piecewise constantcoefficients is considered in this thesis. The main object of thethesis is to model an initial value problem (IVP) and an initialboundary value problem (IBVP) for the considered system. The mainresults are explicit formulae for solutions of initial value problemand initial boundary value problem. Using these formulae thesimulation of elastic waves have been obtained. Results of thesimulations have clear physical interpretation of wave propagationin layered medium from the point source.The method of characteristics has been used for constructingexplicit formulae and MATLAB codes has been successfully applied forthe simulation of the waves.
