Development of web-based parent notification system

Absenteeism negatively affects the relations of students at secondary education level with school. It has been revealed in various studies that students who are absent are faced with problems such as low motivation, aimlessness, negative attitude towards school, school and teacher. It was also stated that it was the reason for school dropouts. In this study, a new approach is proposed for attendance and parent information processes in schools. With the web-based parent notification system developed, the attendance records received by the teachers in the first lesson time of the morning / noon will be recorded in the system, and the attendance records in the whole school will be sent to the parents immediately by the administration. In this way, parents will learn that the student has not attended school immediately in the morning and will be able to take the necessary measures immediately. Thus, both the school will notify the parents that the student does not come to the school at the earliest stage, and the parents will be able to take measures to prevent the student from being outside the school uncontrolled during the day. The system was developed and implemented in a Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. As a result of the semi-structured interviews with the parents at the end of the implementation, the parents expressed a positive opinion about the system.
