Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a difference the individuals residing in Gaziantep differ according to the generations they belong to, the types of political participation, the degree of commitment to the leader, the frequency of use of the mass communication tools they provide political information, and the level of political participation. In addition, questions were asked about whether demographic characteristics such as gender, income status and education status differed from political participation levels. The study was conducted from January to April 2019 with three different groups. The survey universe was composed of voters living in Gaziantep Şehitkamil and Şahinbey districts, while the sample group from within this universe consisted of 524 participants. 138 of these participants belong to X-generation, 281 belong to Y generation and 105 belong to Zgeneration. The data was collected through a questionnaire. In the first part of the form, questions about the demographic characteristics of the participants and in the other parts, questions about their political participation and political preferences are included. In the analysis of the data, ANOVA test was applied to test the hypotheses and to determine whether there were significant differences among the variables. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the levels of political participation differ significantly in general according to generations.
