This thesis argues that Ramadan entertainments, customs and ceremonies in Istanbul folklore between 1800 and 1900. It's been benefited from the important journals of the period, archival records, researches and works of native and foreign authors and travellers. The significant occurences of the period effected Ramadan entertainment and rituals. The harmony of the entertainment and rituals between the Muslims and the NonMuslims continued its existence. A good many preparations were held for food supply and the admonitions expressing the issues which have to be paid attention by people were published during before and during Ramadan. In this thesis, Ramadan entertainments and rituals are argued by being classified as "mansions and palaces", "social places" and "religious place".
