Abstract (EN)

Studies on the history of the city have gained importance in recent times as they provide information about the political history, organization and economy of the Ottoman Empire. Because cities reflect the level of civilization of their own societies, regardless of their cultural environment in every period. It is possible to have an idea about the structure of the state by following the administrative, economic, social and cultural developments of societies by looking at the history of the cities. For this, first of all, it is necessary to deal with the provincial administration of the period in detail. In addition to the administration, the economy, transportation, social structure and physical structure can also be revealed. Malatya has been of great importance both economically and administratively thanks to its geographical location and strategic position since the early ages. Malatya, which has a history of approximately 8,000 years as one of the ancient cities of Anatolia, has hosted many civilizations and has been used as a border city for a long time. While the states that own the city in question contribute greatly to the cultural development of the city; It has also played an active role commercially due to its location on the east and west transition route. In addition, since ancient times, there has always been a non-Muslim population of different religions and sects in Malatya alongside the Muslim population. Malatya District; Many subjects such as its administrative structure, religious and social structures, family life, economic activities have been tried to be brought to light through Ottoman archive documents.
