Ottoman Empire in travelogues written by travelers between XV th and XVII th centuries, particullary information about turks and the Turkish image roused in the eyes of Western world.

In our study we have tried to dwell on Ottoman Empire in travelogues written by travelers between XV th and XVII th centuries, particullary information about Turks and the Turkish image roused in the eyes of western World. First, in our thesis, we have emphasized the importance of the travelogues and identities of the writers, reasons of these writers and Hajj rituals among these reasons. We have handled the reasons of the travelogue's from missionary to intelligence and scientific research to the travelers travelling to implement their religious duties. In our research, we have emphesized the routes the travellers followed and the preferences for the purpose of following those routes. When we look in these travellers' travelogues, they seem that they mostly dwelled upon two subjects; The firts one is social structure shaped by traditional Islamic society, The beauty of the cities and their astonishment and admiration against Turkish people, the second one is, by putting forward the differences, entire people's geographic structures, life styles, characteristics and physical structuresand besides we have seen that they didn't avoid all kinds of praise and satire. This is, at the same time, related to a subject that travelers emphasize the desire they want. The issue emphasized most in the resources is European people's admiration or fear for Turks. Among these travellers, there are ones who expressed admiration for the Turks, as ones who criticized.
