Birgi in the 17th and 18th century

Birgi, which was an important city during the Feudalism period in Anatolia, as a capital of Aydınoulları was one of the strongest samples and offered not only art but also other fields. Even It has preserved its old position for a while during the Ottoman Period, it started decreasing and loosing population in the late time of 17th century. In this study, it was aimed to present the reasons that affect on loosing the importance of Birgi and getting importance of Tire in the 17th and 18th century. Thesis consists of four chapters except introduction, result and abstract. In the first chapter it was focused on the name of Birgi where it came from, effects of Birgi?s political, social and economic impacts during Aydınoullları and Ottoman periods. In the second chapter, districts or quarters, constructional history, mosques, Moslem technological school and foundations belonging to Birgi were examined. In the third chapter, population movements of Birgi in the 17th century, the reasons of migratory movements to Tire, impact of tax and other problems in or around Birgi were examined. In the fourth chapter, identity information was handled by examining the Avarız (Tax) Defters in the districts or quarters of Birgi. Migratory, Population, XVII and XVIII Century
