Abstract (EN)
Crime and crime tendencies that violate the public order are seen in the internal structures of societies. The measures that are taken against the prevention of this crime and its provision in the society vary from society and society. In the society of Ayıntab, which was a city of Ottoman Empire, different kinds of crimes such as man wounding-killing, adultery, rape, homosexuality, robbery, kidnapping, banditry happened in the XVII. century like in other societies. For this reason, this study in which the issue of public order in the city of Ayıntab is examined, consist of introduction and three parts. In the introduction part, the aim, subject and method of the research have been examined and information about the subject and the studies that have been conducted are given. In the first part, the public order is mentioned and it is focused on the officials in the city to ensure public order. In the second part, this crimes that occured in the city of Ayıntab and reflected in the records are evaluated in detail. In the third part, last part, the process of ensuring the security, the mechanisms that asist in this process, and the punishments reflected in the records are evaluated.
