Manastır in the first half of the XVIIIth century

This study titled Manastır in The First Half of The XVIIIth Century aims to reveal the physical, administrative, economic, demographic and social structure of the town of Manastır in the light of archival documents, especially kadi registries (court records), as a whole in the determined time period. As a requirement of the subject, information about the ottoman history in general is also included. İt is thought that the study will contribute to the field. İn our research, the location of the city, its geographical features and transportation opportunities are discussed. İn addition, it has been tried to determine the general view of the period by giving information about about the elements that make up the physical structure of the city by specifying the religious, cultural, social structures and commercial areas in the city. The estimated population of the city with its villages has been determined and the religious and ethnic groups that make up the population are specified. Since the city was the pasha sanjak within the provincial organization of the ottoman state, it is a specialty that it was administered under the responsibility or the provincial governors. As the effects of this situation were seen on the ulama and public sector of the city, the problems of the state's public order were also reflected in the city bureaucracy. The commercial and economic situation of the city maintains its vitality in the first half of the XVIIIth century. During the process, information about commercial activities was given, and prices were tried to be clarified. The social life, which is determinative and affected by all these issues, has been discussed in detail. Especially the social and political events of the period had an impact on the social structure of the city and the security problems of the Rumelia region, where the Manastır was included, were also discussed in our study. In this study, the general situation of the Manastır of city in the first half of the XVIIIth century has been revealed to the extent that the documents allow.
