Abstract (EN)
Our purpose in this study is to use the findings, obtained by evaluating the design and application processes of computer programmes that are used in foreign language education, in order to make a contribution to the realisation of better learning process as the result of more efficient new programme production and to move efficient use of themConceptual scope of the study is discussed in four parts and data has been collected through literature review, observation and sampling methods. In the first part, relationship between language and technology is examined by using educational approaches as base and present situation is explained by reporting technological inventions which have been used in foreign language education from past until today. Also, relationship between technological developments and foreign language education is explained from the angle of historical process and method changes arising from these developments are discussed. In the second part, foreign language education programmes are examined in terms of pedagogical elements, design stages and how pedagogical elements are reflected to programmes during design. Other than those, an evaluation is made about what criteria a programme should have in order to be suitable from pedagogical perspectives and related findings about the programmes and their target groups who will use the programmes are put forward. In the third part, programmes are examined from the perspective of design methodology. Computer programme design principles are examined under four main headings and each title has sub-headings. For these sub-headings, examples are chosen from the programmes which are examined in the application stage of our thesis, and focuses on considerations to use a programme more efficiently and precisely are considered. After stages about design process, application process is explained in the fourth part and one example for computer programme types which are used in foreign language education is presented. Firstly programme features are introduced and then, activities in programme are explained. Evaluations are made about the structure of activities in order to make a contribution so that teachers and students can benefit from these programmes much more efficiently in the highest degree. When selecting the programmes, special care is given to choose updated and preferable programmes. Keywords: Computer-assisted foreign language teaching, design, technology, computer programme, programmed education.
