The individual cost of language teaching and opportunities: A probit model on the field research

This study is investigating the causes behind the inability of the student, who are willing to get foreign language education, and/or of the central system (ÖSYM) candidates, who want to obtain certification for significant knowledge of foreign language, to reach sufficient foreign language level during the formal education period and their probability of success according to the perceptions of the interviewees receiving supplemental education from private education organizations (private education courses). Main goal of this study is to analyze the probability of success that is going to maket he efforts of those wanting to learn foreign language meaningful, which are oriented at increasing the powerto participate in therace to generate economic value and/or the organizational representation, given the time and economic cost under taken as the data. For the database of the study, the authories of the Özel Konak Yabancı Dil Kursu were contacted within İzmir, the course-takers during the 2010-2017 period who received active education were given the interview, and tihe priimary data was obtained. The study is a binary modelling type, and estimators of the Peobit model were utilized. Through the study, the following hypothesis was accepted base on the findings of the model: "In context of Turkey, insufficiency of the curriculum in the basic eduction not taking the talent and skills of the student as reference during elemantary and secondary education level, timing error in terms of the lerarning age, lack of the teachers who are going to feature sufficiency in expertise decrase the success in foreign language''.
