Abstract (EN)
In this research, « In teaching french as a foreign language the method book "Salut ? ?s grammar study » will be examined. In this study, we discussed the grammar study in teaching french as a foreign language. Out of the books ?Salut I? and ?Salut II? which are prepared by The Ministry of Education, we only examined ?Salut I? ?s grammer part and if it is suitable for the method. The search is based on how the book takes up grammar and if it is written according to action-oriented approach or not. Also, to be able to put forward a comparative point of vision, we also shortly examined the same topic with other old methods used in the past.We are going to take up grammar learning, we mentioned grammar?s definition, history, it?s types and the reasons of teaching grammar in the first part of our study. In the second part, we mentioned some methods widely used in the foreign language teaching from past to present and the history, the way they deal with grammar and the importance given to grammar.In the third part, we deeply studied the action-oriented approach. We looked for the answers to ?How and when the action-oriented approach arised?. We mentioned the reasons of why the action-oriented approach started.We also investigated The Council of Europe and The European Language Portfolio which provided this method to arise. Also we emphasized the European Language Portfolio and the contents of this language file which is the verb focused approach?s absolute must.In the final part of our study, we explained with examples how grammar is worked on in the book ?Salut I? under the action-oriented approach and by describing the methodologic features of the book?s grammar parts; we tried to determine sufficiency and limitedness of practice. Besides, we tried to determine if the grammar parts in the book ?Salut I? responds to the needs of Turkish students learning french as a second language.
